Dear John,
I really hope you take the time to read this letter as after all you are a
public representative elected by the people of Ireland.
I just need to know what is your stance is on this urgent health issue
that i know you are familiar with.
On RTEs prime time program a few years back you categorically stated
that that fluoride was not safe for babies and that baby’s milk formula should not be made
with fluoridated water.
You also claimed that fluoridation of the water was also linked to
bone cancer which brings me to my next point.
As you are the man spearheading the roll out of water meters to all
homes on the island of Ireland.
If you yourself do not recommend fluoridation of the public water
supply being safe for human consumption,
why is it then john, that since you have being elected to government
you have not led a campaign to remove
this toxin from the public water supply
and why is it John, that you now want to tax us on this toxic water
supply through the introduction of your water meters
so John, have you completely flip flopped on this issue and decided to
put the public’s health aside and humiliate them further
by taxing them for this toxin when you yourself believe the the
fluoridation of the water supply is not safe for
human consumption.
Please Respond To This John.

John Gormley has known since at least 2007 that the chemical used to fluoridate Irish public water supplies is harmful to human health:
‘Fluorosilicic Acid is an acute irritant to the skin, eyes and mucous
membranes and lungs. The acid and its vapour are moderately toxic.
Fluoride poisoning effects may be delayed up to 24 hours, depending upon
the fluoride ion concentration.
Ingestion: Severe irritant. Ingestion may cause burns of the gastrointestinal tract
leading to vomiting, acidosis, bloody diarrhoea, wheezing, laryngitis,
shortness of breath, headache and shock. Circulatory system may be
affected with symptoms of shock, rapid, weak or no pulse, severe
hypertension and pulmonary changes with dyspnea, and emphysema.
conjunctivitis. Prolonged contact – corneal burns and possible
permanent damage.
Skin: Severe irritant. Prolonged contact may result in irritation, itching and
possible skin rash.
Inhalation; Severe irritant to the respiratory tract. Over exposure at high levels may
result in mucous membrane irritation of the nose and throat with
coughing, shortness of breath and pulmonary oedema.
Chronic: Chronic exposure to fluoride present in Fluorosilicic Acid may lead to
sclerosis of the bones, calcification of ligaments, loss of weight, anorexia
and teeth disorders.
In some cases, necrosis and haemorrhage of the gastrointestinal tract, liver
damage and death may occur. Scarring of the gastrointestinal tract may
occur in non-fatal cases.
Eye: Severe irritant. Contact may result in lacrimation, irritation, pain, redness
and conjunctivitis. Prolonged contact – corneal burns and possible
permanent damage.’

Actually the Basque country’s water is fluoridated. What have they in common with us?
I have written to Trevor Sargent about this matter several weeks ago, referring to a letter from the then supplier of Fluoride, and requesting it’s immediate removal from our water supplies,needless to say there was no response, so I expect the same arrogance and discourtesy with this one.
They cannot remove the residues of antibiotics, anti-depressants, or HRT medications either, maybe they should tell the people that this cocktail of chemicals will make us all healthier.
Those guys are on another planet, it’s called the planet of self enrichment.
I am generally fairly sceptical of politics and in this case John gormley’s flip flopping on this issue does nothing to enhance the public perception of politicians. However, this should not allow us to misrepresent the facts on flouride. As a dental professional, I see on a daily basis the positive effects of fluoride. In 2002, an independent committee set up “forum on fluoridation” which considered every piece of legitmate evidence regarding fluoridation and concluded that, at the dose in public water supply, there is no risk to health. Anyone interested in the issue, should read this thorough document.
Another shill enters the fray. You really have become so transparent. Fluoride was first prosecuted in 1855 as being highly toxic. Give up the rhetoric and stick to putting in toxic mercury fillings to make a living. You’ll be telling us that they’re beneficial next!
Its hard to know if the dental professional Claire is on this island let alone planet because John Gormley himself called the Forum on Fluoridation a whitewash. He is one of the very few TDs to have seen the evasions and misinformation put out by the same dental professionals like Claire who defend this practice. They also pretend that the epidemic of dental fluorosis in our kids is not a health problem. Years ago the fluoridation promoters were accused of acting in bad faith and many people are now wising up to the facts that this forced medication is responsible for the plague of dental fluorosis. And yes, expect Claire to say she hardly ever sees this condition in the surgery and you will begin to grasp the truth of this deception! It is time that people like Claire unlearned the nonsense that was drilled into them in dental school. She should start by noticing that there is no sound science behind fluoridation, not one decent study! Of course the dentist professors never point that out to the students.
